Audit what Google’s AI Overviews say about your business.
AI Overviews are the AI-written summaries at the top of some Google results. They are built from Google Search, so the audit starts with what Google can read on your site. FactHound covers that part. It does not read AI Overviews for you.
How AI Overviews find facts about a business
AI Overviews are generated by Google’s Gemini models and grounded in Google Search: the pages in Google’s index and the facts Google already holds about businesses, such as its Knowledge Graph. They show links to supporting pages.
Google says no special markup is needed to appear in its AI features. A page needs to be indexed and eligible to show in Search with a snippet. Googlebot is the crawler that matters here. Google-Extended controls other uses of your content and does not affect Search.
So accuracy in AI Overviews rests on the same things as local SEO accuracy: correct hours, address and phone number on your own site, in structured data and in your Google Business Profile.

What FactHound does today
It publishes structured data.
FactHound adds your verified facts to your pages as schema.org JSON-LD, the format Google reads. The free check tells you if that data is missing or incomplete.
It checks the page basics.
The free check looks for a title, a description and a canonical link.
It finds your own contradictions.
FactHound flags pages on your website that disagree with your verified facts.
It gives you a Gemini answer to compare.
On Pro and Agency, the Simulator asks a Google Gemini model with Google Search turned on, through Google’s API, and shows the answer next to your verified facts. That is related to AI Overviews, but it is not the same product.
What it doesn’t do
- FactHound does not query Google Search or read AI Overviews.
- It doesn’t edit or validate Google’s Knowledge Graph, and it doesn’t manage your Google Business Profile.
- It doesn’t track whether an AI Overview appears for a search, or whether your site is linked in it.
An AI Overviews audit you can run today
- Search Google for the questions customers ask: your name plus “hours”, “prices” or “returns”.
- If an AI Overview appears, read it and open each page it links.
- Compare every fact with what is true today.
- Fix wrong facts at the source: your own pages first, then your Google Business Profile, then other sites’ listings.
- Check again in a few weeks. Google needs time to recrawl.

With FactHound
Opening hours published as schema.org structured data: open 24 hours, every day.
Result: The hours are in the page itself, in the format Google reads.

Three platforms, three ways of finding facts
No single test covers every AI assistant. FactHound publishes one set of verified facts that all three can read, and checks each platform in the way that is possible today.
| Platform | Where its answers come from | What FactHound does today |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | What its model learned in training, plus web search with linked sources when search is used. | Live answers from an OpenAI model with web search in the Simulator (Pro and Agency). Crawler access checked in the free check. |
| Perplexity | Web search, with links to the pages it used. | Crawler access checked in the free check. No live Perplexity answers: the Simulator’s Perplexity option is a labelled approximation. |
| Google AI Overviews | Google Search: its index and the facts Google holds about businesses, summarized by Gemini models. | Structured data published and checked. A Gemini model with Google Search in the Simulator (Pro and Agency). FactHound does not read AI Overviews. |
