Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information FactHound collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. It covers the FactHound app, the FactHound API, the FactHound WordPress plugin, the FactHound Shopify app and this website, facthound.co.
1. Who we are
FactHound is operated by Meikasa Properties, LLC (“FactHound”, “we”, “us”). FactHound helps businesses publish verified facts about themselves in formats that AI assistants and search engines can read. For the information described in this policy we act as the controller, except where we process content on behalf of a customer, as noted below. You can reach us about privacy at ameikle@2amlabs.com.
2. What we collect
Account information
You sign in to the FactHound app through our authentication provider, Logto. We receive and store your email address and display name from Logto, together with an internal account identifier. We do not receive or store your password.
Workspace, site and business content
We store the information you and your team add to FactHound, including workspace and agency names and branding, the websites you add, your business profile, the facts you enter or verify, questions you resolve, team members, their roles and invitations, and the settings of your connections. We also keep a record of certain administrative actions, such as invitations, membership and role changes, plan changes, publishing settings and app installs, together with the account that performed them.
Public pages of your verified sites
After you verify that you own or control a website, our crawler, FactHoundBot, fetches public pages of that site. It follows the site’s robots.txt rules. We store Markdown copies of those public pages, use them to build your profile and serve them at hosted addresses. We also fetch your site’s public pages to check whether your published profile is installed correctly.
Questions asked through the FactHound API
AI assistants and other clients can ask questions about a published business through our /ask endpoint. For each question we store the question text, the client’s user-agent string and a one-way SHA-256 hash of the IP address the request came from. We do not store the raw IP address. Because the same IP address always produces the same hash, the hash is pseudonymised, not anonymous, and we treat it as personal information. The question text is whatever the asker sent, so it may contain personal information if the asker included some. We use these records to show businesses which questions go unanswered and to protect the service from abuse.
Search embeddings
To match questions to facts, we send the text of facts and of incoming questions to Cloudflare Workers AI, which returns numeric representations (embeddings). We store the embeddings of facts.
The FactHound WordPress plugin
When you connect the plugin, it sends the one-time handshake token and connection identifier you paste in, and it stores the plugin API key it receives in your WordPress options. It then regularly requests your site’s published profile files from our API. When you publish, update, trash or delete content, it sends us the public URLs of the changed pages so we can refresh them. Its requests identify the plugin version, the WordPress version and your site’s home URL. The plugin does not send us information about your site’s visitors, and it sends no cookies, visitor IP addresses or analytics.
The FactHound Shopify app
When you install the Shopify app, we store your shop’s domain, an access token for your shop, which we encrypt before storing it, and the handles of the products and collections we work with. The app does not request access to your store’s customer or order data, and we do not receive Shopify customer data. We respond to Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks.
Invitation emails
When a team member invites someone, we send the invitation email through our email provider, Resend. The email includes the invitee’s email address, the inviter’s name and the name of the workspace or agency.
This website (facthound.co)
facthound.co uses no analytics, no tracking and no cookies. Like any website, it is delivered through a hosting provider, Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse.
Early-access sign-ups on facthound.co
If you join the early-access list, the form sends your email address and, if you give it, your website address to FactHound’s API. We store your email address (in lower case), your website address, the site the form was submitted from and the time of the sign-up. We store nothing else. Your IP address is not stored: it is only hashed briefly to limit how often the form can be submitted. We do not send you an email automatically when you sign up. We use this information only to contact you about early access to FactHound. We keep it until you ask us to delete it or until the early-access programme ends. 3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide the service, including building and publishing your business profile, answering questions about published businesses and showing you reports in the app;
- verify that you own or control the sites you add before anything is published for them;
- operate your account and workspaces and send the invitations your team asks us to send;
- keep the service secure, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service;
- contact early-access sign-ups about FactHound; and
- comply with the law.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you, on our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the service and in responding to people who ask to hear from us, and on legal obligations where they apply.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for advertising, we do not show advertising and we do not use your information to build advertising profiles.
4. Information that is public by design
FactHound exists to publish information. Your business profile, your verified facts and the hosted Markdown copies of your public pages are published openly for AI assistants, search engines and anyone else to read. Once published, they can be copied and kept by third parties, including AI providers, and we cannot recall those copies. Do not add personal information to your business profile or facts unless you intend it to be public.
5. Service providers
We use the following providers to run FactHound. They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services to us.
- Cloudflare: hosting of the app, the API and this website, DNS, file storage (R2), background job queues and Workers AI (search embeddings).
- Neon: our Postgres database.
- Logto: sign-in and authentication.
- Resend: sending invitation emails.
If you use the WordPress plugin or the Shopify app, WordPress and Shopify are services you choose; their own privacy terms apply to them. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
6. Browser storage and cookies
The FactHound app keeps your sign-in state and your preferences, such as theme, language and last-used workspace, in your browser’s local storage. FactHound sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Our sign-in provider, Logto, uses cookies on its own domain to keep you signed in. facthound.co sets no cookies.
7. How long we keep information
We keep account and workspace information for as long as your account is active. When you ask us to delete your information and we have verified your request, we delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it to meet legal obligations. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire. Early-access sign-ups are kept as described in section 2.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- have your information deleted;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing.
To make a request, email ameikle@2amlabs.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act on it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
If your information is in a workspace managed by a business or agency, we may refer your request to that customer and help them respond.
9. Security
We protect information with measures that match how FactHound is built:
- connections to the app, the API and this website use encrypted HTTPS (TLS);
- we do not store passwords, because sign-in is handled by Logto;
- plugin API keys, one-time install tokens and invitation tokens are stored as one-way hashes, not in readable form (for API keys we also keep a short prefix so you can recognise them);
- Shopify access tokens are encrypted before they are stored;
- access within the app is limited by workspace roles, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it.

10. International transfers
FactHound is operated from the United States. Your information is processed in the United States and in the other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws where you live.
11. Children
FactHound is a service for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as FactHound changes. When we do, we will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let account holders know.
