Check what ChatGPT says about your business.
You can’t see the chats where customers ask ChatGPT about you. You can ask the same questions yourself, compare the answers with your verified facts and fix what ChatGPT reads. FactHound helps with all three.
How ChatGPT finds facts about a business
ChatGPT answers in two ways. It can answer from what its model learned in training, which may be months or years old. Or it can search the web and answer from the pages it finds, with links to its sources.
OpenAI documents GPTBot, which collects pages that may be used for training; OAI-SearchBot, which finds pages for ChatGPT search; and ChatGPT-User, which fetches a page when a user’s request needs it. Your robots.txt can allow or block GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot. OpenAI says robots.txt rules may not apply to ChatGPT-User, because a person started the visit.
Either way, the answer is only as good as the pages behind it. If your own site is unclear, blocked or out of date, ChatGPT has less to go on.

What FactHound does today
It asks the model directly.
On Pro and Agency, the Simulator sends your question to an OpenAI model with web search on, through OpenAI’s API. You see the answer and its sources next to what your verified facts say.
It checks crawler access.
The free check reads your robots.txt and tells you if GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot or ChatGPT-User is blocked.
It checks what a crawler can read.
The free check reads your homepage without running JavaScript, because you can’t count on an AI crawler running it, and shows which facts are missing.
It publishes the source.
FactHound puts your verified facts on your own website as schema.org structured data and gives you an llms.txt fact file.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t see anyone’s ChatGPT conversations.
- It doesn’t run ChatGPT every day. Daily monitoring uses a separate AI model that reads your website and published facts, and labels the result “AI estimate”.
- It doesn’t score the live answer for you. You read it next to your verified facts.
- The live answer comes from OpenAI’s API, not the ChatGPT app. The app can answer differently.
- Live answers are limited to a few per website per day.
Check it yourself
- Ask ChatGPT the questions a customer would ask: your hours, your prices, your policies.
- When it lists sources, open each one.
- Compare every fact in the answer with what is true today.
- Fix wrong facts where they live. Start with your own website.
- Ask again in a few weeks. Crawlers need time to return.
What a side-by-side looks like
Apex Emergency Plumbing (made-up)
Question: “What’s the after-hours callout fee at Apex Emergency Plumbing?”
What the model said
Apex Emergency Plumbing charges around $250 for an after-hours callout.
What your verified facts say
After-hours callout fee: $149.
What you do next: Find the page that still shows the old fee, correct it, and ask again.
This is an illustration with a made-up business. It is not a real customer or a recorded AI answer.
Three platforms, three ways of finding facts
No single test covers every AI assistant. FactHound publishes one set of verified facts that all three can read, and checks each platform in the way that is possible today.
| Platform | Where its answers come from | What FactHound does today |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | What its model learned in training, plus web search with linked sources when search is used. | Live answers from an OpenAI model with web search in the Simulator (Pro and Agency). Crawler access checked in the free check. |
| Perplexity | Web search, with links to the pages it used. | Crawler access checked in the free check. No live Perplexity answers: the Simulator’s Perplexity option is a labelled approximation. |
| Google AI Overviews | Google Search: its index and the facts Google holds about businesses, summarized by Gemini models. | Structured data published and checked. A Gemini model with Google Search in the Simulator (Pro and Agency). FactHound does not read AI Overviews. |
