Connect a WordPress website
Install the FactHound plugin on your WordPress site. It adds your approved business facts to every page and keeps them current, with no code to paste.
Before you start
- Your website is added in FactHound, and WordPress is chosen under Where is your website built? on the Website setup page.
- You can sign in to your WordPress admin as an administrator and install plugins. Your site needs WordPress 6.0 or newer.
- If your site is on WordPress.com, your WordPress.com plan must allow plugins.
Why use the plugin
AI tools such as ChatGPT read your website’s code, not just the words on the page. The FactHound plugin adds your approved business facts to that code, on every page. It also proves to FactHound that the website is yours.
When you change your facts in FactHound, the plugin picks up the change within an hour. You never paste code.
Get the plugin
The plugin isn’t in the WordPress plugin directory yet. Email hello@facthound.co with your website address, and we’ll send you the plugin file. It’s a .zip file. Keep it zipped.
Install it in WordPress
- In your WordPress admin, open Plugins → Add New Plugin (on older versions, Plugins → Add New).
- Select Upload Plugin, choose the .zip file, then select Install Now.
- Select Activate Plugin.
Connect it to FactHound
- In FactHound, open Website setup and find Install the WordPress plugin.
- Copy the Handshake URL with the copy button next to it. Don’t open the link in your browser. That uses it up.
- In WordPress, open Settings → FactHound AI Profile.
- Paste the address into Handshake URL, then select Connect.
WordPress shows “Connected. Your AI profile is now delivered on this site.” If your business details aren’t published yet, it tells you that delivery starts automatically once they are.
If something goes wrong
- “This handshake URL has expired.” In FactHound, select Rotate token, copy the new Handshake URL and paste it again.
- WordPress says it is connected to one address, but this site is another. The address you added in FactHound must be the address of this WordPress site. Check both, then connect again.
